Do it afraid!

Franklin Roosevelt said, “Courage is not the absence of fear.”

Faith, too, is not the absence of fear.

I heard a medical missionary once encourage her audience to “Do it afraid!”   She said if God is calling you to a soup kitchen, a nursery, a classroom, a place of service out of your comfort zone, you cannot wait until fear dissipates.  You have to step out in faith and do it afraid!

FEAR, they say, is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real.

What is faith? Priscilla Shirer says faith is “acting as if God is telling the truth.”  She reminds us to hold up the “shield of faith” against the lies (the False Evidence) that come at us like flaming arrows.

So when fear is getting the upper hand, God may be saying, “Do it afraid!”

Step out.

With your shield of faith held high.

Knowing that God is ahead of you, behind you, beside you. Even if your knees are shaking!
